Hall Surrounds Upgrade -August

Some exciting Concepts were shared at the latest P&C meeting including some fabulous designs and also some great drone Pictures. The P&C would like to say a huge “THANK YOU” to Peta Hewitt for the time and effort she has donated to the concept design work and also to Cameron Mills for the Fabulous drone images, we are really very grateful

The Project is aiming to include lots of input from the Boys and already there have been surveys completed and some work is currently being done with the support of the Geography faculty looking at drainage and shade among other things.

The main aims of the project are:

• To create a good first impression

•Facilitate multi-purpose use (open days, assemblies, performances, exams, gatherings, etc)

•Improve aesthetics

•Compliant with Disability Discrimination Act

•Promote Bally Boys Campus and create a recognisable identity

There is plenty of room for improvement!!

We also are aiming to improve the Hall Surrounds by:

•Improve utilisation with seating and opportunities for active play and Improve aesthetics.

•Wheelchair access

•Address stormwater run off

The Design Brief Process is underway and Inputs include:

•Site observations

•Student surveys

•Interviews with teachers, staff and students

The Design Team is working on:

•Creative brainstorming and concept designs

•Architectural brief (for tender)

•Oversight of design process to documentation

So What Do the Boys say?

Year 7 & 8 responses on use:

•Eating •Socialising •Study/school work/reading

•Using a device •Active play •Relaxing

Students generally like and feel safe in the area.

The Boys Say Improvements need to address:

•Wet weather protection •Lack of amenity (bins, bubblers, toilets) •Cleanliness

•Seating options •Opportunities for active play •Areas for shade
